Earlier this year, I intended to film a video for my Youtube channel “UNDER DVLP” on my birthday. I haven’t gotten the chance to edit the full video yet. However, I’d still like to share this project with you here.

Birthdays used to be a celebration that I looked forward to every year. I am not sure when I stopped getting excited about them.

This year, I decided to spend my birthday alone. Trust me when I say that I loved it. Walking through my favorite streets in the city, I had one goal in mind; find 27 portraits to commemorate this day.

The photographs that you’re about to see were all taken from waist level with my Hasselblad 500CM, with no careful compositions. As I pressed the shutter, I locked eyes with the people in front of me, aiming to see myself through their eyes.
